Amos gets his first Major

Very proud of my "little man" - Amos. Amos has been a bit slow to mature, but I think this boy is finally ready to go! This past weekend, after 2 months off resting a toe injury, he was ready to come out lure coursing again and earned his first AKC points. On Saturday, he placed second for a point. Then on Sunday, he went all out and went first for a 3pt. Major!

Is it possible that my "Little Man" is finally starting to grow up?! Amos was entered in both the AKC and ASFA Lure Coursing trials at the 2011 AWC National Specialty in Richmond, KY. He had several good runs on Saturday and I was proud that he ran clean and had fun. By Sunday, he decided to let loose a bit more! He had several more good runs followed by some impressive runoffs - he placed 4th in his Open Stake on Sunday for his first ASFA points! Congrats "Little Man"! We are proud of you! I can't wait to see what what this boy will do once he keeps his head down and just lets GO!

Amos earns his QC title!

Now 16 months old, Amos has been a bit slow to mature.
While he has had great drive and enthusiasm for the "bunny", we have felt that until recently he wasn't quite ready to run competitively.
We decided to make the trip to Calhoun, GA this past weekend, mainly to see if this special boy was ready to go! Everyone else got to benefit from this quest.
He did not disappoint me. He passed his QC test with flying colors and was entered in regular competition 2 days later. While a scary collision happened in his first run, knocking him out of contention, but it did not seem to deter him and he got up and finished strong. It was clear later in the day that it did not affect him. His second run was a sight to behold, one of the high scores of the stake! He finished 4th out of 15. I really can't wait to see what happens once this young boy finds his true legs!

Amos got to practice again this past weekend in Camden, SC. Can't wait til he is a bit older - then he will get to play with the "big" doggies! Until he matures a bit more, running alone is just fine by him!

Amos was about 11 months old here, he finally got to run a full course!
He thought that was just Great! He needs to mature a bit more before he will actually compete, despite the fact that he is old enough in 13 days.

Amos had blast at the Lure Coursing trial this past weekend in Williamsburg, VA. Not only did he have a successful practice on Saturday, this crazy jumping boy had a blast catching the "bunny" right out of the air! I am thinking we should try some agility or frisbee catching in our future!

Amos attends AWC 2010 National

This was Amos's first real dog show and he showed like a champ! He handled the big class and the exam on a table with no problem. At just 6 months old, he looked immature compared to some dogs there and therefore, didn't place, but it was a great experience for this young outgoing boy! I look forward to the next year, it will be fun showing my first "boy" of to the fancy!

Puppy Group 2 - B - Match!!!

Yesterday - we decided to attend a B - Match in Raleigh, NC.
Amos had a great time and showed like a champ - he went Puppy Group 2 and gained some very valuable experience! Lets hope he behaves just as well at the National in a few weeks....

Oh my - what fun Amos had this past weekend in Camden, SC! Amos ran about a 50 yard straight and then we reversed it and he ran back! He had Great enthusiasm and drive and went right for the Bunny!! (just like all his sisters and brother!)

I look forward to the time they are old enough to run for real. Until then, practice will have to do!

It was fairly nice outside today - Amos thought it was great - amongst his running Mike was able to catch a few photos - he is getting to be such a BIG boy! The best part was once we came back inside - he snuggled up on the couch for a good nap!
